Topic: Fashion Illustration. In the Fashion Illustration studio class the students will learn the fundamental techniques specific to fashion design used in the apparel industry, discovering the different types of Fashion Drawings and where they are used. Students will learn how to create fashion croquis from standard fashion proportion, how to draw and render fabrics and textures using traditional techniques and the more common software used in Fashion companies. Through the exploration of different media and proportions the students will learn how to communicate fashion concept using their personal expression. Topic: Fashion Design. This course will focus on the apparel design process from rough sketches to finished, full color illustrations of micro collections. There will be a brief overview of other aspects of fashion including basic construction concepts, properties of textiles, illustration, history, manufacturing, trend forecasting, merchandising, and social psychology of dress. The assignments will include works of wearable art made from unconventional materials, partnering in the construction of an outfits made from recycled garments, readings, construction projects and participation in the RE-FASHIONED fashion show.
