Introduction to the research, communication, and analytical skills of the dramaturg through study of contemporary trends in theatre, including immersive theatre, documentary/verbatim theatre, approaches to adaptation, new play development, solo performance, and devised theatre. Requires written assignments exploring dramatic structure and historical and contemporary cultural contexts and performance practices.

Prerequisite: THEA 101 or THEA 122 or consent of instructor.
