Section Info:
Title: International Engineering Service Project Management for Student Organizations Description: Students are drawn to participate in engineering service organizations for a variety of reasons, from humanitarian assistance to applied engineering experience to travel opportunities to resume enhancement. With little preparation and understanding of the technical and logistical challenges associated with working directly with an unfamiliar client society, however, many new members drop out of the organizations in frustration after a few meetings. This course aims to provide student practitioners with a clearer understanding of how to assess, design and implement a project that is undertaken on behalf of a client community, addressing the technical design, societal conditions, and project management skills needed to allow participants to contribute meaningfully to their projects.
