The weekend of Friday, April 12th and Saturday, April 13th has been selected. In addition there will be three one-hour class times scheduled with the trip. Attendance at the meetings is mandatory. This course gives student a career exploration experience that involves developing networking skills while engaging with RST industry alumni and professionals in their offices, agencies, and facilities. Best practices and current issues will be explored. Students will have the potential to make connection for future internships and career advancement. Past visit examples include stops at Wintrust Arena, Navy Pier, Oak Lawn Ice Arena, Many Park Districts, Toyota Park, Schaumburg Sport Center, Wrigley Field, etc… Fees cover hotel and transportation. This course will provide an overview of sport brand management. Product choices in today’s society are abundant, yet products can be imitated. In contrast, brands occupy a space in the minds and hearts of consumers, which is not easily replicated. In this course students will learn how to build and manage brands pursuant to the development of brand equity. Further, students will learn brand architecture strategies and how to manage brands over time and across geographic boundaries.

Section Info:
Sport and Sustainability (Orange, Blue, and Green Team) Professional, Olympic and intercollegiate sport has embraced increasingly influential positions supporting sustainability and environmental protection. Using a multi-disciplinary perspective, course will encourage the development of personal perspectives on controversial topics, provide opportunities to examine the linkages found in nature and connecting economic systems, the environment, and the sport industry. Students will be exposed to sustainability models being embraced by leagues, teams, and events to increase revenues and reduce costs and analyze strategies managers implement to raise community awareness of social issues.
