Primary focus on narrative art in novels and films. Topics include authority & authorship; mass consumerism; social class; family & heritage; feminism & sexuality; political and artist groups. Works by Debord, Duras, Godard, Sarraute, Perec, Rivette, Robbe-Grillet, Rohmer, Truffaut, Varda. In addition to close readings, students will prepare presentations that mine the digital archive of the "50 years later" commemoration: posters, flyers, tracts, photographs, documentaries, political speeches, and media coverage. Course conducted in French. Wednesday, 3:00-5:20pm
