Credit: 3 hours.
Enables students to use computers to solve real-world problems in the geosciences. Students will: Develop a fundamental level of programming knowledge, including Linux computing; Learn to use MATLAB and Python on local and remote computing systems to address geosciences problems; Understand the structure and use of geosciences datasets; Use computers for data representation, presentation and visualization; and Understand introductory methods for geosciences data reduction and statistical analysis. No programming background is required.
