Section Title:
Evidence and Accuracy
Section Info:
TOPIC: Evidence and Accuracy. This course will focus on three topics. First, we'll discuss how rational belief is constrained by evidence, with a focus on permissivism vs. impermissivism and precise vs. imprecise attitudes. Second, we'll visit the topic of higher-order evidence: evidence about the rationality or reliability of our own attitudes. Finally, we'll discuss how truth constrains rational belief: is epistemic value determined by accuracy? How does an accuracy-centered epistemology interact with (im)permissivism, (im)precise attitudes, and higher-order evidence?
