4 Hours: Sedentary Behavior and Health Prolonged periods of time spent sitting are now ubiquitous in the workplace, in automobile commuting, and in television viewing and the use of computers and electronic entertainment technologies at home. This course covers the newly-emerging ?science of sedentary behavior? in identifying prolonged sitting as a health risk that is distinct from a lack of physical activity or exercise, and points to novel opportunities for relevant public health, clinical and social-policy actions.
