HUM 389 - French and Comparative Cinema II: 1950-present. Semester two of a survey of French cinema in a comparative context, beginning with the films of the nouvelle vague and their contemporaries and continuing to the present. The class format will be lecture/discussion with special emphasis placed on in-depth analysis (decoupage and deconstruction) of selected films and their placement within historical , social, political, aesthetic, and technical contexts.
