We will take up the question of how race/racism, the (im)migration experience and the continually evolving political climate have shaped recent French cultural production. Examples will be drawn from the literature of second-generation immigrant youth, film, (both popular and documentary, music, including Hip Hop, Reggae and rai, amd much more.
