Investigation of special problems and current topics in industrial and/or graphic design. Students will conduct original research which will be shared through papers, presentations, and discussions.

Additional fees may apply. See Class Schedule. 3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. May be repeated in separate terms to a maximum of 6 undergraduate hours or 16 graduate hours. Prerequisite: Junior standing in Art and Design or consent of instructor.

Topic: Typographic Design and Production. This special topics studio is a hybrid of typographic design and production. Students focus on the micro and macro aspects of typographic systems and plan for the reader experience through all media (print and digital). Hands-on production methods such as letterpress, screen printing, and vinyl plotting, laser engraving, and CNC output will be utilized to address formal design issues.
