Explores the Japanese Tea Ceremony and its relevance to everyday life. Students will acquire a better understanding of Japanese culture and a new appreciation of their own cultures through the study of the Tea Ceremony and the Zen worldview that informs it.

Class Materials Fee of $65 required.

Video-based online class. Students will be asked to participate in weekly discussion boards, write short reports, take quizzes and midterm exam, and complete a final project. Readings will be provided. On-campus students will be required to participate in a scheduled tea ceremony at Japan House once during the semester.
