Section Info:
The course will cover highlights of the literature produced on East Slavic territory (the region that is now, but was not then, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus) from the eleventh through the seventeenth century, together with historical grammar, origin, and development of the East Slavic literary language. We will consider questions of genre, periodization, continuity and discontinuity, and relevance to modern literature. Work will be in both the original and translation. 4 credit hours. Restricted to Graduate Students, Language prerequisite: completion of or placement beyond RUSS 301-RUSS 302 or permission of instructor. Meets with RUSS 460.
