N-Way Component Analysis
Section Info:
Introduction to three- and higher-way component models, the Parafac and Tucker models; hands-on practice with MATLAB for parameter estimation based on alternating least-squares (ALS) and use of constraints such as nonnegativity and orthogonality; application to practical problems; visualization of results. Students are expected to have basic understanding of matrix operations (e.g., inverse) and principal component analysis (PCA), and familiar with MATLAB for matrix manipulation and computational programming, or becoming so in the first 2 weeks.
