Theory in 19th Century Literature". "This class will explore how literary texts of the 19th Century defined the literary experience. We will read novels and poems that attempt to answer the question 'What is literature'? Texts by Mme de Stael, Balzac, Stendhal, Hugo, Gautier, Sand, Baudelaire, and others. Taught in French.
