Examination of selected major novels from the French-speaking world outside France along thematic and formal lines; literary responses to colonialism, political independence and departmentalization in a variety of former (and current) French territories; study of critical approaches to narrative and related issues of individual and communal identity and culture.

Same as CWL 317. May be repeated to a maximum of 6 hours if topics vary. Prerequisite: FR 207, FR 208, FR 209 and FR 210 or equivalents.
