Credit: 4 hours.
Molecular-scale processes that control the fate of organic contaminants in natural environments and engineered treatment systems, including partitioning between environmental phases (water, air, organic, and biological phases), sorption onto solids (soils, sediments, aerosol particles), and transformation reactions (chemical, photochemical, and biochemical). Emphasis on quantitative approaches for predicting contaminant fate using thermodynamic principles and molecular property descriptors.
