Subject: Critical Theories of Theatre and Performance. : Course Topic: This course examines Russian theatre in Russian and international contexts in the early twentieth century. Through the analysis of plays in translation, theoretical writings by Russian theatre artists, and contemporary historical accounts, students investigate significant texts and events in the Russian theatre and the critical and historical interpretations of those texts and events. The course emphasizes modernist styles and influences in Russian drama and performance.
