Introduction to the genomes of the major molecular genetic model eukaryotes. Focuses on methods for comparative genomics and the insights gained from these comparisons, from the level of polymorphism within a species to comparisons across kingdoms. Potential for extension beyond model organisms and for insights into global aspects of eukaryotic genome evolution is demonstrated. Offered in alternate years.

Prerequisite: MCB 150; IB 204 or MCB 250; or consent of instructor. IB 302 and MCB 405 recommended.
