Students will explore the dynamics of teaching and learning as they relate to the educational practices employed in schools, with an emphasis on the changes needed to education. First year Discovery Program course. Registration restricted to freshman. Students should only enroll in one Discovery course. Discovery course. Must have Freshman class standing.

The 21st Century is turning out to be a crossroads for the sustainability of humankind existence and other species on Earth as we face the mounting challenges of diminishing resources (including peak oil), population growth, environmental degradation and climate change. While many technological solutions are being proposed to deal with the challenges of sustainability, less attention has been paid to the root cause of all these problems, namely, human behavior and the psychology underlying human behavior.
