Credit: 3 hours.
An integrative approach will be used to evaluate selected evolutionary mechanisms and processes employed by a variety of microbial pathogens. Different evolutionary strategies used to become a successful pathogen will be emphasized rather than a focus on clinical issues. The majority of hosts used as examples will be human. Concept will be presented in an evolutionary and phylogenetic context. Designed for advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate students in biology who have a solid course background in evolution.
