The purpose of this project is to prepare a pictorial, written and orral history of the Champaign County Urban League's contribution to the community during its 61 years of existence. Archival materials from the Urban League currently held by the Urbana Free Library will be catalogued and pictures, news articles, etc selected for components of an exhibit. Community members will be sought for personal testimony on the meaning of the Urban League for racial justice and social equity in their own lives.

Brazilian Families Study Tour
Section Info:
. Family Strengths and Challenges in Brazil. Eight-week preparatory course examines Brazil's history and social conditions. Study tour includes visits to Porto Alegre, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro, with intensive study, discussion, field trips, cultural events and experiences working with institutions providing services to families and youth. Instructor approval required - contact the instructor Dr. Marcela Raffaelli at mraffael@illinois.edu or the ACES Study Abroad Office at 333-3638 for application. Application required by December 1, 2008. Additional fee $3,750 to $4,250. Travel dates July 29-August 14, 2009 (approx.). 4 graduate credit hours.
