Topic: Sustainable e-Waste Design. Ever wonder what happens to your e-Waste, that old computer or cell phone you discarded? Are you concerned that chemicals from land fills are harming the environment? If so, here is your chance to do something about it by creating innovative new uses for e-Waste. First Class Meets: January 22, 2009 Rm. 41 Art and Design Bldg. Industry Liaison: Willie Cade, CEO, PC Refurbishes and Recyclers, Chicago. Enrollment: Open to all undergraduate and graduate students (computer engineers/scientists, industrial designers, architects, artists, entrepreneurs and other encouraged to participate. Innovation Teams. Teams of 3-5 students will participate in "Sustainable e-Waste Design Competition" to create new uses for e-Waste. Competition jurors expected from fortune 500 companies such as Google, Microsoft, Boeing, the US EPA, PCRR, Chicago, Dell and others. Competition rules, prizes and jurors to be announced. Participating teams asked to donate an e-Waste compute�so bring that old computer from home that is no longer being used (computer data will be treated securely, i.e., hard drives erased. Donated electronic components will be available for competition use.
