Focuses on the conditions that influence war and peace between nation-states. Considers various factors at different levels of analysis (individual, national, dyadic, and systematic) in an attempt to understand why nations go to war. Readings will consist of current research in this topic area-without ignoring "classical" works.

Prerequisite: PS 580.
