Students participate in discussions and activities that help them become aware of the vast array of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign resources and services; discover opportunities to join various types of U of I student organizations and to participate in University Study Abroad courses; learn strategies for addressing common challenges facing first-year students, such as developing study skills and time management strategies; explore careers connected to their majors/minors/interests; develop a critical awareness of the world problems identified by the Millennium Development Project; and explore the meaning of three important concepts - citizenship, community, and leadership.
