Examination of the history of Terrorism, from ancient strategies of terror used by states at war to modern terrorist attacks by individuals, such as Timothy McVeigh, and groups, such as Al Qaeda. Terrorism will be analyzed as a form of warfare to be compared and contrasted with conventional and guerrilla conflicts. Students will be asked to examine historical examples of Terrorism and to consider what they tell us about the threat of Terrorism today. 3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours.
