Credit: 3 hours.

Experience and experimentation in designing and executing hollowware through traditional forming processes; emphasis on sinking, angle raising, crimping, stretching, seaming and snarling, cold forging, tube and spiculum forming, planishing, surface embellishment, and patination; exploration of metal as a medium of personal aesthetic expression.

May be repeated to a maximum of 12 hours. Prerequisite: ARTS 230 or consent of instructor.

This course will explore contemporary applications of fusing, classical chainmaking, granulation, tool making, and chasing and repousse. This course is open to students who have successfully completed ARTS 230 Metal/Jewelry 1 and is a required course for Metal majors.
