Credit: 3 OR 4 hours.

Introduces students to the legislative process, as well as to basic methods of statutory interpretation. Students select from several sections, each focusing on a different statutory scheme. Within that statutory context, students study basic canons of statutory interpretation, the uses of legislative history, and other issues arising in the application and interpretation of statutes.

3 professional hours. 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: Enrollment in the College of Law.
