Its purpose is to help you to make the transition to being a professor. We will read literature to help make you aware of the scholarship of teaching and learning and to give you ideas about how to implement best practices in your classroom. Ultimately, we aim for you to develop a personal philosophy and style to serve as a basis for your academic career.

Ecosystem processes and conservation of coral reefs will also be discussed. One 1 hour lecture per week plus the week-long field trip to Belize at the end of the semester. Cost of the field trip is estimated to be $1450 and will be borne by the student. Prerequisite: IB 150 and consent of instructor. Student must be able to swim.
