Examination of empirical and theoretical literature on the acquisition of language; emphasis on universal patterns in the acquisition of a first language and on a consideration of explanations, both psychological and linguistic, for these patterns.
Same as COMM 524, and LING 524. Prerequisite: LING 425, PSYC 425 or PSYC 462, or consent of instructor.
