(HIST 327) Culture, society, and politics in Imperial Russia, focusing on power and resistance, the lives and culture of ordinary Russians, and competing ideas about the state, the individual, community, nation, religion, and morality.

3 undergraduate hours. 2 or 4 graduate hours. For higher credit, graduate students will be required to do more reading and to write an additional paper. Prerequisite: One year of college history or consent of instructor.
