Mechanics and Relativity I
Credit: 3 hours.
(PHYCS 225) Examines kinematics and dynamics. Vector analysis will be developed as needed. Topics include special relativity, Newtonian kinematics and dynamics in three dimensions, behavior of systems of particles, oscillations, transient response of oscillators, nonlinear oscillators, motion in rotating frames of reference, and rigid body dynamics Credit not given for both PHYS 325 and PHYS 219. Prerequisite: Credit or concurrent registration in PHYS 212 and in MATH 385 or equivalent; or consent of instructor.
