Credit: 3 hours.

(MUSIC 239) Comprehensive examination of interrelationships among the various segments of music education; the role of music education in the total school program, elementary through secondary, with emphasis upon philosophy, learning theory, curriculum design, identification of exceptional children and learning disabilities, administration, and current trends; includes 20 hours of early field experience in the teaching of music.

Prerequisite: Senior standing in music education, or consent of instructor, plus 80 hours of early field experiences in the teaching of music; completion of the Quantitative Reasoning I requirement.

One additional hour to be arranged.
