- This fully online, 8-week course is an introduction to the theory and practice of histology, covering the instrumentation, staining techniques, and interpretive skills used to examine tissues at the microscopic level. Lecture content addresses the fundamental tissue types and organ systems with a comparative perspective across vertebrate taxa, emphasizing how microstructure reflects function, while a virtual laboratory component provides hands-on experience with high-resolution digital slide imaging. Recommended for upper-level undergraduates and graduate students in the biological or biomedical sciences. Serves as an Area 3 Advanced Lab course for the IB Major.
