Credit: 2 hours.
Students will learn how to recognize and initiate treatment for infections involving the eye from conjunctivitis to shingles. They will learn how to treat and triage injuries including fractures, abrasions and lacerations. Students will learn how to check eye pressure safely and accurately and diagnose acute glaucoma. They will also learn common ocular signs and symptoms of stroke including visual field loss and double vision.
2 professional hours. Approved for S/U grading only. Prerequisite: Completion of year 3, operating room orientation, completion of CLE 706 Emergency Medicine. Restricted to students enrolled in CI MED.
