Section Info:
Supervised readings and research in selected fields in consultation with the instructor. This independent study examines African proverbs with a focus on Wolof and Yoruba oral traditions as forms of artistic and intellectual expression. It explores how both traditions use proverbs to convey philosophy, social values, and cultural knowledge through metaphor and condensed expression, while comparing their structures, meanings, and relevance in contemporary African societies. The goal of the course is to produce an academic paper that meets the standards of a peer-reviewed journal.
