Introduces students to professional employment and actual planning practice. Students work in an organization of their own choice, subject to departmental approval, either during the summer session or part-time during a regular term. Typical places of employment include municipal and county governments, private planning consulting firms, non-profit agencies, regional planning councils, park districts, and state agencies such as the Department of Transportation.

Approved for Letter and S/U grading. May be repeated in separate terms up to 6 hours. At least 135 hours of student work is required for the 3-credit hour course or at least 45 hours of student work is required for the 0-credit hour course. Prerequisite: Upper division undergraduate standing in urban planning.
