Telehealth & Clinical SW
Section Info:
Telehealth & Clinical Social Work: Telehealth, mobile technology, and digital communication are gaining widespread use in social work direct practice and can increase access to mental and behavioral health care. This 8-week course covers types of telehealth, ethics, professional standards and etiquette, online therapy tools, clinical skills, evidence-based practices, and telehealth policies. The strengths and limitations of these evolving technologies will be reviewed, and best practices for access, equity, digital health literacy, and cultural competence will be considered throughout. The course will include presentations, readings/video assignments, case studies, role-playing, progress notes, hands-on skills training, and a final project. This is a 2-credit hour course. The class meets the 2nd 8 weeks of the semester.

Global Perspectives

OVERVIEW: Students will learn about social justice and health equity models in Brazil and the United States and have the opportunity to interact with Brazilian peers in online-classes and an on-site visit to Rio de Janeiro. This program is open to any registered UIUC student, Sophomore level or above. All students must complete the study abroad online application https://studyabroad.illinois.edu/ before being cleared to register for this course. These are the tentative dates: *March 23-May 29, 2026 (online classes). Travel to Rio, Brazil: May 18-May 28, 2026. May 29, 2026: all class online debriefing. *tentative online class week of March 9th for orientation and preparation of American students
