Professional Sports: Front Office Management

Credit: 3 hours.

Exploring the inner workings of professional sports organizations is the goal. Students will analyze key functions such as industry trends, franchise ownership and governance, sponsorships and marketing, revenue models, labor relations and collective bargaining, stadium design trends, and more. This elective is designed to familiarize students with an overview of various business avenues and prepare students for careers in professional sport organizations. Students will synthesize course materials to create a proposal for an expansion franchise.

Students who have completed RST 199 BSS (Business Strategies for Professional Sport Organizations) should not register for RST 238. While the number and name are different, the course content is the same. Registering for the new course would be seen as duplicate credit.
