SP26 RHET 233 - Advanced Rhetoric and Composition - Lock Mier - We will study graphic novels and comics to explore genre, rhetorical situation, and argument. We will examine how comics combine text and graphics to shape information by looking at memoir, nonfiction, and other ways artists and creators use comics storytelling techniques to comment on the world around us. You will create your own nonfiction comics using the tools we study in the classroom. Throughout the class, assignments will be created by hand and work in doodles, drawings, creative positioning of text, etc. No artistic skills or deep experience with graphic novels required. All you need is some critical thinking, creativity, and an open mind towards what an Advanced Composition class can be!
