Explore urban and popular music beatmaking (traditionally referred to as instrumental music composition) from a lens of analysis, creative, and technical understanding, and to apply that creative and technical understanding in producing original music. Students work directly with a music industry professional to produce original music applying advanced techniques in a digital audio workstation to explore beat creation at intermediate and advanced levels.

Prerequisite: MUS 127.
