Kinetics of chemical reactions; rate equations, reaction mechanisms; transport processes; diffusion equations, atomic and molecular diffusion; phase transformations; nucleation, crystallization, displacive, spinodal decomposition; surface and interface phenomena; sintering, grain growth, recovery, and recystallization.
3 undergraduate hours. 3 graduate hours. Prerequisite: MSE 201 and MSE 401.
