Topic: AI in Film and History Description: From the birth of cinema until today, robots and intelligent machines have been a subject of fascination for filmmakers and moviegoers. This class will explore the theme of Artificial Intelligence in film alongside historical developments in computing and social/cultural context. What do these fictional depictions of AI tell us about the times, places, and people who imagined them? And what does it mean if—as some claim—AI is now no longer merely “science fiction”?
