Section Title:
Race in Europe
Section Info:
"Race in Europe" explores notions of race, radicalization, racism, and racelessness in the European Context, broadly-defined. With an interdisciplinary approach that incorporates perspectives from sociology, anthropology, history, European studies, Black studies, Roma studies, and beyond, as well as knowledge you bring from your own studies and experiences, we will gain deeper understanding of both the theory surrounding these notions and their application to various populations in Europe. We will also spend some time throughout the semester situating what we learn within our existing schemas around race and race relations born out of our own diverse backgrounds. This course is delivered in a hybrid format with a weekly asynchronous online lecture and relevant homework on each week's topic to be completed before each weekly in-person discussion-based meeting.
