Section Title:
Civic Discourse and Democracy
Section Info:
Americans today live in a time of great political and social polarization, making dialogue across lines of difference both unlikely and difficult. Drawing on research and commentary from a variety of disciplines, this class investigates the idea and practice of ‘civic discourse.’ We will explore and question the mechanisms behind what makes discussion across lines of difference so challenging, what makes it productive, and the potential for this type of discourse to alleviate political divides.
Restriction(s):
Restricted to Chancellor's Scholar-CHPHonors students.
