In-depth exploration of fundamental concepts in foreign language teaching; designed for departmental Teaching Assistants; topics include classroom discourse, teaching approaches, reading, listening, writing, and principles of language testing.

Same as PORT 571. Prerequisite: Teaching assistantship in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese or consent of instructor.
