Section Info:
Military Cultural Competency This course equips learners with the cultural competence and communication skills necessary to effectively engage with military service members, veterans, and their families. Through a structured 8-week curriculum, students will explore military culture, family dynamics, mental health challenges, and advocacy strategies. Emphasis is placed on practical application, ethical considerations, and culturally responsive communication to support and empower military populations. Course meeting times: September 8 September 22 October 6 3:30-5:00 pm (all Tuesdays) VIA ZOOM PART OF TERM (POT) A This 2-credit course is offered in Part of Term A (first half of the semester). Instruction is primarily asynchronous online, with three required live Zoom sessions. Students must attend at least two of the three scheduled sessions.

Female Veterans Transitioning from Military Service This course examines the unique experiences and challenges faced by female veterans transitioning from military to civilian life. Students will explore topics including mental and physical health, employment, housing, social support, and policy advocacy, with an emphasis on gender-informed approaches. Designed for social workers and public health professionals, the course provides practical tools to support, empower, and advocate for female veterans across diverse service systems.
