- Automotive Design Projects-DES
- Section Info:
- Multiple interdisciplinary projects involving mechanical design project teams. Intended to provide a design project experience over consecutive semesters. Students enrolled in this section are members of an extra-curricular design/build team such as iRobotics, EcoIllini, EvConcept, Ghost Electric Motocycles, Illini Solar, Illini pullers etc., or any other design/build club, except for SAE which has its own dedicated section (i.e., ME199 SAE). Completion of three consecutive semesters may be used to satisfy 3 hours of Technical Elective credit requirement; for students who entered the Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics program as freshmen. Prerequisite: ME 170 or SE 101 recommended. Students may propose the projects and select the teams.

- Multiple interdisciplinary design projects involving SAE (Society of Automotive Engineering) project teams Intended to provide an automotive design project experience over consecutive semesters. Students enrolled in this section are members of one of the following SAE teams: Illini Electric Motorsports, or Off-Road Illini. Completion of three consecutive semesters may be used to satisfy 3 hours of Technical Elective credit requirement. The first semester of ME 199 must be completed no later than the third semester for students who entered the Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics program as freshmen and by the second semester after transferring into MechSE for transfer students. Prerequisite: ME 170 or SE 101 recommended. Students may propose the projects and select the teams.
