Students will research the relationship between patient satisfaction and spiritual care. Students will explore their own understanding of spirituality. They will examine how their spiritual traditions may impact their care. Students will examine how patients utilize their faith to guide their healthcare decisions. Students will observe the Interdisciplinary Team connections of chaplains, specifically with hospice and social work. They will participate in Spiritual Screenings and observe the role of chaplains in traumas.
1 professional hour. Approved for S/U grading only. May be repeated in separate terms up to 2 professional hours. Prerequisite: Completion of years 1 and 2. Restricted to students enrolled in the Carle Illinois College of Medicine.
