Communication in Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Credit: 2 hours.

This is a graduate-level course on foundational issues in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) for speech-language pathologists and other professionals. It is intended to prepare them to understand this neurodevelopmental disorder and serve this unique population as key team members in assessment and intervention. Ninety percent of school-based professionals serve students with ASD. Content areas include diagnostic criteria (signs & symptoms), etiology, language and communication patterns, assessment, and interventions for individuals with ASD.

Prerequisite: Restricted to Graduate Students.
